School Program
The North Alabama Railroad Museum recently kicked off its School Excursion program. However, we are not new to the experience. Between 1971 and 1986 we sponsored train rides in cooperation with Southern Railway and its predecessors. During these years, over 100,000 teachers and children participated in the program by riding our train. Now we are providing school excursions with a learning experience on our own railroad at our museum at Chase. It consists of a special program for kindergartens and first and second grade classes. Information packets will be provided to the teachers prior to each school visit in order to prepare the children for their experience. This program is designed for the younger children featuring fun, excitement, and a wee bit of history. The visit includes a tour of the Chase Depot, a movie or slide presentation in the audio-visual car, a special tour of the museum's display passenger train, and possibly a ride on the museum's real excursion train. Space is available for a picnic should it be desired and our pavillion will be completed soon. Please call the museum on Wednesday and Saturday mornings at (256) 851-NARM for detailed information and to make reservations. .
Please, when you visit, do not walk on top of the rails and do not climb on the equipment. Rails are very slippery and can cause a very nasty fall. We want your visit to the museum to be an enjoyable one.
